D.I.Y smudge sticks

Smudge sticks were used long ago by native American tribes and many other cultures. They are an assortment of aromatherapy herbs tied up and dried to burn. You can use different types of herb such as sages, lavender, spearmint as well as many other types you can find on different websites. The burning of these herbs is practiced in any household or area. The purpose of smudge sticks is to cleanse the spirit, energy, and the air surrounding the environment you burn it in. Here's instructions on how to make your own!

Your gonna need:

Some string at least two feet of it.

Scissors.

Any herbs you prefer to use. I combined a handful of mint..

Lavender (cut the blossoms off)

Purple sage (already dried) but doesn't have to be!

So your going to take your herbs whether you choose multiple types or even just one.

Put it all together lined up and cut it all to about the same length.

Make sure the leaves are all up side right for when you begin to wrap it.

Start from the bottom and wrap the string around five times, as you tuck the beginning of the string under.

As you begin to go up make sure you are wrapping over the leaves so they are fastened in and not sticking out. This will help the drying process.

When you get half way up your smudge stick with the string you can add in the blossoms from the lavender if you used it in your combo of herbs. Gives it pretty color!

When your finished it should look something like this. It will take about a week or two for you smudge stick to dry out, keep it in the sun or outdoors in a dry place. In the mean time it smells amazing, so you could have it in your house laying around almost like popery.

The paintbrushes and I

The lovely "Moonshine" that I painted for a lovely family. They're mysterious backyard full of towering trees with the moon shining down was a MUST to get down on canvas. This was the ending result :).

"Geometric Nature"

This is "Inner Passion" and was my first time practicing with the flower of life. I came across an amazing painter Krystle Smith. She does all her paintings with the flower of life. You can see her artwork at www.krystleyez.com

"Even Flow" I painted this one while hangin' out with a small group of my wonderful friends. Randomly picked up the paintbrushes at 2 a.m. and it ended up pretty cool. When I was finishing it the next day, Even Flow by Pearl Jam came on and it just all went together so so well.
